Willard J. Houghton Library
The Willard J. Houghton Library contains more than 220,000 volumes, 26,000 microform items, subscriptions to 463 periodical titles in paper form, and access to over
2,500 periodicals online. The college's online catalog, which uses the Virginia Tech Library Systems software, offers easy access to the Library's holdings. Membership in a regional library consortium helps ensure optimum interlibrary loan service.
The library underwent $1.2-million renovation that provides group study space for students, additional stack space for books and periodicals, a more attractive and accessible front entrance,
and new windows, as well as other improvements.
Educational Technology Initiative (Laptop Program)
The
Educational Technology Initiative is a campus-wide commitment that provides the latest technology within the context of a traditional liberal-arts institution. Each first-year student obtains a laptop computer and printer, with on-campus technical support provided. Students connect to the College network from their residence hall rooms and many other locations for such purposes as communication with professors and fellow students and high-speed access to the Internet.
Instructional Technology
The Instructional Technology pages provides information about copyright issues, schedules for faculty and staff software training, the use and availability of classroom presentation technology, and offers links to
Web sites that focus on the subject of technology use in the classroom.
Student Academic Services
Student
Academic Services provides students with peer tutoring,
study advisement, and information on learning disabilities.
