About Houghton Honors
Honors at Houghton is more than the classes you take: it is an experience that combines theoretical knowledge and practical application in a way that will help you realize your God-given potential. Along with the Houghton Honors Program, students have the opportunity to be considered for the following competitive scholarships:
- Excellence and James S. Luckey Scholarships ($1,000/$4,000 to full-tuition per year)
- Heritage Scholarship ($12,000 per year)
Houghton College Honors Programs introduce students to challenging, interdisciplinary, experiential learning situations unlike anything they’ve encountered before. Our programs go beyond intensive classroom discussions and require learners to immerse themselves in complex questions.
The three honors programs provide formative learning experiences that establish a framework of study and service, empowering our students to impact the world long after leaving Houghton College. Our honors alumni have pursued master’s and doctoral degrees at institutions including Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, University of Chicago and Indiana University in fields such as neuroscience, molecular biology, law, music and theology. Other alumni have immediately taken their education around the world to impact others where they have taught in West Africa, performed linguistic surveys in Afghanistan, and joined urban development projects in Buffalo, N.Y.
