What are Houghton graduates doing?  Where are they serving?  How have they fared in graduate school?  What difference are they making in the world?  These are all appropriate and necessary questions to ask as you consider Houghton's role in your educational future. The following information is presented as an overview of the success of Houghton alumni.

Service

Houghton graduates take up the mantle of scholar-servant:

  • Twenty-five percent (25%) of Houghton alumni can be found in ministry positions such as missionaries, pastors, etc.
  • Wycliffe Bible Translators employs more graduates of Houghton than any other college or university
  • A majority of Houghton alumni, regardless of undergraduate major and current vocation,  are actively involved in their churches as worship leaders, youth group sponsors, Sunday School teachers, and church board members.  Additionally, many are involved in service groups such as Habitat for Humanity, Rotary and Lions Clubs and also serve as elected government officials and school board members.  Houghton alumni are committed to service in a variety of ways!

Career Placement Information

Each year the Career Services Office conducts a placement survey of Houghton graduates from the previous graduating class. Twenty-four years worth of career placement surveys reveal some powerful indicators: 66% of Houghton graduates were employed full-time within a year after graduation and 33% of Houghton graduates were pursuing graduate studies within a year after graduation.

Graduate School Preparation

On average, over 30% of each year's graduating class will immediately enter graduate studies.  Additionally, another 25-30% will pursue graduate studies in future years as shown in an ACT Survey as outlined in the chart below:
