Efrain Rivera '78
Efrain Rivera has had an
interesting and varied professional career. He began his career
as a senior trial attorney for the commercial litigation branch
of the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where he
litigated civil fraud and bankruptcy cases on behalf of the
federal government for almost five years.
He joined Bausch & Lomb in 1989 and has held management posts in
Corporate Treasury, Investor Relations, and Finance. He has
served as Vice President and Controller of the global Vision
Care business, General Manager of Bausch & Lomb's Mexico
operations based in Mexico City and President of the Canada and
Latin America Divisions also based in Mexico City. He was
appointed a Corporate Vice President of
Bausch & Lomb in 2002.
In 2003, Efrain took a leave of absence and for that year
served as the Dean of the School of professional studies at
Eastern University. He returned to Bausch & Lomb in December
2003 and was named Treasurer of the company in 2004.
Efrain is a member of the honor society of Beta Gamma Sigma at
both the doctoral and M.B.A. level. He has an Executive
Doctorate in Management from Case Western Reserve University, an
M.B.A. in finance and applied economics from the William E.
Simon Graduate School of Business of the University of
Rochester, a Juris Doctor degree from New York University, and a
B.S. degree from Houghton College ('78).
