Eva Benedict

Eva Benedict

Eva Benedict is an excellent example of what hard work and determination can do for a career. She started off by getting a nursing degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital of Nursing in 1979. Eva quickly found a job at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, New York. She started off as a Critical Care Staff Nurse in 1981. Over the next 29 years, Eva worked her way up the corporate structure while remaining at Jones Memorial Hospital.

In 1993 Eva furthered her education by getting a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of the State of New York. It was around this time that she was promoted to be the Director of Critical Care and Patient Management Services. While she was serving in this position, she once again returned to school and got a Master of Science with a concentration in Nursing Administration from St. John Fisher College, located in Rochester, New York.

Shortly after receiving her degree, Eva assumed the position of Vice President of Patient Care Services. From 1999 through 2006, she faithfully oversaw many aspects of the hospital. Her responsibilities included budget development, reporting directly to the CEO and overseeing much of the hospital. Things like inpatient medical units, critical care, maternity services, surgical services, cardiopulmonary services and infection control were just a few areas under Eva’s care. Then, in December of 2006, Eva was asked to temporarily assume the capacity of President and CEO of Jones Memorial Hospital. After the national search yielded no one more qualified for the job, Eva was promoted to be the permanent replacement as the President and CEO of Jones Memorial Hospital in June of 2007. This is her current role at Jones Memorial Hospital.

Eva was our guest on September 17, 2010. For her remarks go here.

The purpose of the monthly Guest Executive Dinner series is to increase student exposure to marketplace professionals from various fields and service opportunities in order to encourage them to be both salt and light after college.
