Charles Philip '00

Charles Philip is a Houghton graduate from the class of 2000. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Following his graduation, Charles went to work in the biotechnology industry for various companies including Corning Inc., Fisher Scientific and his present employer, Invitrogen Inc. Currently, Charles is a Marketing Manager responsible for a multi-million dollar product portfolio in Canada. His additional responsibilities at Invitrogen include leading cross-functional teams in various acquisitions that Invitrogen is currently undertaking.
Charles has a passion to make sure every undergraduate student at Houghton takes advantage of the opportunities that are before them and to excel at everything they put their minds to. He desires that Houghton students continually develop their life plan from day one, trying to determine what they want from a Houghton education and pursuing it.
In his spare time, you will find Charles volunteering on the Board of Directors for a United Way-funded community agency, participating in church related activities, playing badminton, evaluating many different entrepreneurial ideas, and spending time with his niece and nephew.
