Ken Cole '91
Our guest executive Ken Cole
graduated from Houghton College in 1991 with a BS in Business
Administration and a minor in Political Science. While at
Houghton he was active on Residence Life staff as an RA and RDA
at Shenawana Hall.
After graduation, Ken took a position with
Adelphia
Communications in the Human Resources Department. He continued
with Adelphia, specializing in Compensation, HR Information
Systems and Recruiting before becoming a Director.
Following the scandals at Adelphia, Ken was closely involved
with the restructuring of the company, both with interim
management and the current team. As Director of HR Operations he
leads the HR group supporting the Corporate offices in
Coudersport, PA and Denver, CO.
As a result, Ken has had a unique perspective – he led
recruitment efforts during the late 1990s during Adelphia’s
explosive growth, and oversaw the layoff of 300 employees in
recent years. Leading during crisis has been the norm of late,
with Adelphia now pursuing dual paths – one of emerging from
bankruptcy independently, and one of the sale of the company.
Ken is married to his wife Kathy, and has three children – David
(8), Daniel (6) and Kristen (2). He is the Vice President of the
PA Pro-Life Federation, and serves on the North Central PA Workforce
Investment Board. He enjoys raising kids, coaching youth soccer,
skiing and flying airplanes.
Mr. Cole was our guest on October 1, 2004.
The monthly Guest Executive Dinner series is sponsored by Houghton's business department for the purpose of increasing student exposure to marketplace professionals from various fields and service opportunities to be both salt and light after college.
