Wesley A. Lytle '67 Speaks To Students

Wesley LytleHOUGHTON, N.Y. – Wesley A. Lytle ’67 spoke to Houghton College students on March 19, 2010 for the Guest Executive Dinner series. Lytle currently serves as the president and CEO of United States Plastic Corporation.

United States Plastic Corp. is an organization that manufactures and distributes some 25,000 plastic items serving over 85,000 clients operating in a factory five acres under roof. One major product is manufacturing plastic tanks, i.e. the distribution of bottles, carboy and plastic containers. This includes plastic sheeting, rods, tubes, flexible tubing and thousands of plastic fittings. United States Plastic Corporation was founded by Dr. R. Stanley Tam, who placed 100% of the ownership of his corporation into a foundation whose purpose is to establish churches in third world countries.

Growing up as a missionary’s kid in Medellín, Colombia, Lytle has been a Christian since his early years.  Wes and his wife, Rebecca ’66, have always felt the call to lead.  Currently, Lytle leads by serving as the Chairman of the Board of WTGN-FM Christian Radio.  The 1967 Houghton College graduate also serves on the Board of Trustees of One Mission Society (OMS) – a prominent world-wide mission’s organization – and of Crown College, a private Christian College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota.

Together, Lytle and his wife lead a Sunday school class made up of husbands and wives in their 30’s and 40’s.  The Lytles met on the Houghton campus while earning their undergraduate degrees and both went to Indiana University for further education where Wes attained his master of arts in teaching and Becky earned her master’s in education.

In his spare time, Lytle, a resident of Celina, Ohio, enjoys tinkering with computers, photography, and radio controlled model airplanes.  The Lytles have two married daughters and three grandchildren, with another expected in early April.
