Houghton Alumna Wins Educators' Award

Giant novelty check Carla Chapman-Bittner

Carla Elizabeth Chapman-Bittner (1998) received the Milken National Educator Award from the Milken Family Foundation. Chapman-Bittner received $25,000 and an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles to attend a national educators' conference. She is one of 100 educators nationwide to win awards this year. The award goes to teachers and administrators who are recommended by an independent committee appointed by each state's department of education. Chapman-Bittner co-teaches a class of third- and fourth graders at Evergreen Avenue Elementary School in Woodbury, NJ.
