Under the direction of Professor Trini Rangel, four teacher education PE majors took their faculty-student collaborative presentation titled “Utilizing Children’s Literature for Teaching Movement Education” to the New York State AHPERD (Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance) Conference in Verona, New York on November 18, 2010. It is not common for college students to present at this state-wide conference and presenters Aaron Newell, Dana Cunningham, Michael LaScala, and Zechariah Mientkiewicz were pleased by the positive response to their presentation. They are also looking forward to repeating their presentation at selected district schools in the near future – an invitation they received from the staff and curriculum coordinator of Erie 1 BOCES while at the conference.
