Professor of History

Cameron Airhart (B.A. NNC; M.A., Ph.D. UC-Santa Barbara) came to Houghton in 1987 after teaching for two years in the history department at SUNY-Geneseo. He teaches a wide range of European history courses, with an emphasis on medieval studies. Prof. Airhart founded and directed the First Year Honors Program from 1996-2008, and has led numerous London-based programs. His research interests are St. Francis and the influence of Franciscan spirituality on western culture, and the intersections of European modernism and the American holiness and progressive movements. Currently, he is at work on an extended study of the family of Hannah Whitall Smith.
