What does the Integrative Studies committee do?

Faculty from a wide variety of academic disciplines work to bring cohesion and identity to Houghton’s integrative studies program by providing avenues of oversight, assessment, and innovation to the curriculum, its faculty and by fostering interdisciplinary cooperation.   Click here for goals and outcomes.

In addition to its work within the curriculum, the committee oversees the Houghton Reads initiative and sponsors periodic integrative studies lectures and presentations. During 2010-11, the committee is also piloting a First Year Learning Community in partnership with the Office of Student Life.
