INCL 311 Grade Criteria

Letter of Evaluation.

From On-Site Supervisor. Mainly evaluate the adjustment of the student to the culture and level of effort and cooperation toward achieving the projected goals. (Sent directly to On-Campus Mentor via email or mail.)

Journal:

A field journal of notes and thoughts while in the culture especially reflecting your goals. Sources: experiences, observations, readings, interviews. We are expecting:

3-4 entries a week while off-campus

N Narrative – what happened, where did you go, what did you do, description

I Information – what you learned, who taught you

P Personal – Your reflection on that, how did it effected you? What questions it raised. What questions it answered.

Culture Profile Grade:

Minimum 10 pages double spaced. This was introduced in your INCL 211 course with Dr. Pollock. However, your source there was primarily outside research. This profile is primarily from personal experience, observations, readings, and interviews. We are expecting that you will cover at least 6 topics: Including such topics as: Language, Art, Music, Food, Health, Family, Education, Economics, Government, Gender Roles and Relationships, Marriage, Religion, etc.

Discussion Essay:

Minimum 10 pages double spaced. Describe qualities of an effective cross-cultural change agent within the culture you experienced, and give honest assessment of your growth and adjustment in the culture.
