A spirited Oboist, Ji Won Lee holds a Bachelor of Music from Eastman School of Music. She received a Performance Certificate and Art Leadership Certificate from Eastman, which are given to recognize talented musicians. She is currently pursuing a Master of Music in dual degree - Oboe Performance and Music Education - at Eastman in the studio of Richard Killmer.

Native of South Korea, Ms. Lee began her musical education at the age of three and started playing oboe at the age of ten. She started her professional career by attending Yae-Won Art Christian Middle School. Then she moved to the Philippines and Indonesia and continued to pursue her musical career by actively participating in Southeast Asia Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble with the Scholarship from the King of Thailand (2002), Hong Kong Honor’s Band (2002-2003), and numerous music festivals held in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia as a solo performer or with small and large
ensembles.

During her study at Eastman, as an attentive orchestra player, soloist, and chamber musician, Ms. Lee frequently performed in New York upstate region including Rochester, Syracuse, Buffalo, Ithaca, and Binghamton. Together with Eastman Christian colleagues, she led annual fundraising tour concerts (2006-2010), where the raised fund goes to annual New York Bible Conference. In addition, Ms Lee also participated in several summer festivals: Interlochen Arts Camp (2004), Aspen Music Festival (2006), and Banff Summer Arts Festival (2008).

Ms. Lee’s teaching experience began in 2005 as an Oboe Instructor in Indonesia, and has taught privately as well as through teaching assistantships at Eastman, numerous students from young to old. She is currently an Oboe Instructor at Hochstein School of Music and Dance since fall of 2010, and Houghton College since spring of 2011.

Ms. Lee is interested in bringing music to the children in third world countries. She is currently developing a curriculum for victimized children to provide them with proper educative environment and to influence their hopes and dreams in life through music.
