Darryl Lockie
My
understanding of the Bible, the ministry, religion, theology, and
simply the Lord Himself, have broadened so much in my short tenure
at Houghton. It’s incredible to look back on how much the Lord has
grown me here in such a short time. I feel a religion degree from
Houghton has blessed me with some of the necessary skills and
academic resources for effective pastoral ministry, though I still
am frequently reminded of how much I have yet to learn. I’ve already
seen in ministry how often I come back to the lessons learned in
class. Not to mention the most invaluable resource of having a
bunch of insightful mentorship opportunities from professors, many
of whom have had pastoral experience. I could easily keep going.
After graduation I’ll be pursuing my passion of urban ministry and church planting. I’ll be bi-vocational and will begin by working full-time in the business sector and part-time at a church plant on the west side of Buffalo, also I’ll be starting graduate school online in the fall. Though again, I still have so much to learn about ministry, I can’t begin to tell how the Lord has shaped and blessed me in my time here at Houghton and how much more prepared I now feel for the task ahead.
