Charles Meeks (’05)
Since
graduating from Houghton in December 2005, my life seems to have
come full-circle. After Houghton, my wife, Cherith, and I lived
and ministered in Australia for a year with the Wesleyan
Methodist Church. When our time was up, we knew further
education was our calling, so we packed up everything and moved
to Wilmore, KY, where I attended Asbury Theological Seminary and
Cherith learned the Financial Aid business. Houghton was perfect
preparation for a degree in Biblical Studies; I was ahead of the
game and was able to latch on to several opportunities such as
participating in an archaeological dig in Israel.
When I had completed my degree, we were looking for direction; God opened several doors for us to return here to Houghton, where Cherith joined the Financial Aid staff and is seeking to begin her Master’s in music next year. I am hoping to begin PhD work next year in Historical Theology with either Durham University (UK) or Wycliffe College (University of Toronto). I hope to one day serve as a college professor, passing on the gift of learning which I have been given. We are glad to be back!
