My Houghton Experience

Joshua Rhone, Houghton Class of 2004

Joshua RhoneIn the fall of 2001, I stepped foot on Houghton's campus for the first time as a student.  I went to Houghton expecting to receive a quality education that would prepare me for youth ministry.  However, my time at Houghton helped me to realize that youth ministry was not my niche in God's kingdom.

Studying under the tutelage of insightful and dynamic professors helped me to realize that I loved to learn and that one of the ways that God has gifted me is to share what I have learned with others in an easy-to-understand way.   While my original plan following graduation was to continue my education, my wife and I sensed that God was leading us to the front lines of ministry.

Recently, Crystal and I accepted a call to return to Pennsylvania and serve as the pastor of the Mount Union Wesleyan Church, a wonderful congregation that loves the Lord and is earnestly seeking His will for their lives and the life of their church.  It is such a blessing to be serving as the pastor and equipping the saints of this congregation to be God's hands and feet to their community.   Undoubtedly, Houghton College has helped me to become the man, pastor, and scholar-servant that I am today.
