Dr. Michael Jordan
I
graduated in 1999 with a degree in Bible and history. After leaving
Houghton, I attended Eastern Seminary in Philadelphia and then
pastored a church in the western suburbs of Philadelphia for seven
years. While pastoring, I was convicted of the need for
evangelicals to think critically about worship with an ear to the
history of the church. While remaining at the church, I pursued a
Ph.D. in liturgical studies from Drew University, which I completed
in 2009.
Just after completion, we moved back to Houghton where my wife Jill (also '99) now teaches math full-time. I teach part-time in the religion department and care for our kids, Grace and Jack, who are 3 and 1 respectively. (Grace is pictured here after a wedding we did; I officiated, she was the flower girl.)
Houghton provided a strong educational and spiritual foundation for my graduate work and pastorate, and it also now provides spiritual sustenance for the often-difficult ministry of parenting! Houghton is both supportive and rigorous; it is a great place to be yourself and find yourself.
