New Student Fall Orientation 2008

All new students, including first-year and transfer students, should arrive on campus between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 29. Below is a partial 2008 Fall Orientation Schedule, highlighting important events and services available to students and their families during orientation.

The 2008 Fall Orientation Program will include the Dedication Service for all new students (including transfer students) and reception for parents. More detailed information will be available upon arrival on August 29. International/TCK/MK New Student Transition Program

All first-year international, TCK and MK students are strongly encouraged to attend the Transition Program to be held Monday, August 25 – Friday, August 29, 2008.

Students who are arranging their own transportation to Houghton should arrive between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on August 25th. Students arriving by plane must email a copy of their flight schedules to Brian Webb no later than August 15. For more information about the Transition Program contact Brian at brian.webb@houghton.edu or 585-567-9557. There is no charge for this program.

Special note to Canadian students: You are not required to attend the Transition Program, although you may come if you wish. It is, however, very important that you attend the immigration workshop held on Friday morning at 10:00. It is therefore recommended that Canadian students arrive to Houghton on Thursday, August 28.

Airport Shuttle

The College provides shuttle service to and from the Buffalo airport (BUF) when college residences close for vacations.  The fee is $10 per trip for the shuttles listed below. Students should sign up as early as possible, but at least one week prior to arrival/departure to reserve a seat.  Contact Kim Cockle at 585-567-9220 or kim.cockle@houghton.edu If no one has signed up for a particular shuttle, it will not run.  Shuttles are scheduled to run after the last class of the day so students will not have to miss class.
