Selecting your courses for the fall semester

We are already anticipating the fall semester, and I hope you are excited about beginning your studies at Houghton College.

Selecting courses is one of the steps you need to prepare for college.  In order to register for courses, please complete the course selection form and return it to the Admission Office.  Because some courses have limited openings, please select several in each category.  Openings fill on a first-come, first-served basis, so please return your form as soon as possible.   The course offerings with changes and closed courses noted are available on our web site:

Foreign language placement exams will be given in Latin at the beginning of the fall semester in the library.  Placement exams in French, Spanish and German may be taken on-line at the following web site:

You must take the placement exam unless:

1. you have taken fewer than two years of language study.
2. you have successfully completed college-level language credits.
3. you have studied a language other than the four listed above.   If this is the case, please contact the Admission Office for more information.

The results of the placement test will determine where you will be placed for further study or whether your proficiency allows the language requirement to be waived.  All students are encouraged to continue their language study.  Only the placement test results are official.  Any other placement is tentative.
