Work Study

Employment on Campus

Students may work part-time on campus as part of the federal college work study program.  Work study job normally require 8-12 hours weekly and are paid at the NY state minimum wage of $7.25/hour. 

All students planning to work on campus must bring with them two original forms of ID to for employment verification:

  • Drivers license or Houghton College School ID and Social Security Card or Birth Certificate.
  • Or a Passport works for both forms of ID.

*International students must also provide an I-20 (student visa) and visit the International Student Programs Office upon arriving on campus regarding how to apply for a social security number.

Students are NOT permitted to work on campus without the aforementioned information.

Direct Deposit is highly encouraged. Please note that your checks may be deposited into any bank account. It is a $30.00 fee to stop payment on a lost check.

If you have difficulty finding employment, please stop by the Student Financial Services Office.

Student employees are required by federal law to complete the I-9 form.  This requires students to present original documents to payroll personnel. Social security cards, birth certificates and passports are the most easily obtained documents for this purpose.

Banking Services on Campus
