Top Academic Scholarships
Students interviewing for the Houghton Honors Program will also be considered for Houghton's top academic scholarships.
Heritage Scholarships
Houghton's highest academic award is the Heritage Scholarship of $16,000 per year. These awards are renewable annually with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. Eligible students who have been accepted for admission will be invited to apply for these scholarships as part of the application/interview process for the Houghton Honors Program. Heritage Scholarships will replace a student's academic scholarship.
Academic Scholarships
First-year students will qualify for an Academic Scholarship according to the chart below:

Important notes:
- The SAT score used for Academic Scholarships includes the student's highest scores on the Critical Reading and Math sections. The high school GPA is based on a 4.0 scale. Weighted GPAs will be re-calculated.
- Academic Scholarships are renewed annually providing the student maintains at least a 3.0 GPA at the end of each year. Full-time attendance is required.
- Students may qualify for additional financial aid awards (performance, need-based, federal or state) upon completing the financial aid application process.
- Admitted students may submit new GPA and SAT/ACT results until March 1, 2012.
Excellence Scholarships
To help our students explore and expand their interests and gifts, we offer scholarships to students in the following categories:
- The arts
- Science and technology
- Global engagement
Excellence scholarships are given in the amounts of $5,000 and full-tuition and are renewable each year of attendance.
