Information for TCKs, MKs, and International Students

Houghton has a lot to offer you as an MK, TCK or international student! Approximately 5 percent of our students are non-U.S. citizens. An additional 5 percent of our students are U.S. citizens who have grown up outside the United States. We have years of experience in working with MKs, TCKs, and international students. 

Here are some of the reasons we think Houghton College would be a good choice for you:
Houghton is a college community of Christians from over 40 denominations, living and learning together. Professors, staff members and students actively seek to integrate their Christian faith into every area of their lives.

• We'll provide you with assistance as you adjust to life in the U.S. as well as to college life. Through seminars, the Intercultural Student Organization, and the work of our Intercultural Student Programs Office, you'll have access to many different resources.
• Many of Houghton's professors have lived or worked internationally, making them sensitive to your needs. In addition, many others in our community have lived overseas for extended periods of time, providing an additional resource.
• Because most students stay on campus on weekends, there is opportunity for entertainment and activities seven days a week. 
• Internationals have the option of being matched with a host family in the community. In addition, many choose to reside on one of Houghton's international floors in the residence halls. 
• The Intercultural Student Association (ISA) provides a core group of people to support international students while studying in the United States. ISA plans and produces the International Banquet, an annual highlight for many students and community members, as well as an international coffeehouse held during our yearly missions conference (New Vision Week).
