Overnight Visits

Would you like to combine your visit with an overnight stay in a dorm? Then plan your visit for a Monday, and we can arrange for you to spend the prior Sunday evening with one of our current students. Here are some details for an overnight visit, including our recommended check-in time:

Sunday (evening)

Monday (morning & afternoon)

Staying with a Friend

If you prefer to stay with a friend who currently lives in a dorm, you can either make the arrangements yourself or else mention your friend’s name to the Visit Office (800.777.2556) and we will see if they are available to be your host. If you make your own arrangements, you are welcome to stay with them any day of the week.

Dates to Avoid

Overnight housing is not available during school breaks, final exam week, or between semesters. In the Spring of 2008, some of these dates include: January 6, February 23 – March 2 (February Break), March 22 – March 30 (Easter break), and April 30 – May 7 (final exams & end of semester).

Accommodations for Family

Accompanying family members will need to arrange their own accommodations since housing with current students is only available to prospective students. We recommend the Inn at Houghton Creek (585.567.8400) as well as any of the places listed on our accommodations & dining page.

Items to Bring

For your overnight stay, please plan to bring a sleeping bag, towel, soap, personal items, alarm clock, and perhaps a favorite game or reading material for the later evening. You might also want to break out the piggy bank for a CD or piece of Houghton apparel at the campus store, or for a late night snack at Big Al’s snack shop.

What about meals?

Your Monday meals are complimentary and will be provided in our dining hall. If you’re looking for a place to catch some Sunday dinner, you might want to check out Subway, the China Star, or any of these other great places to dine in the Houghton area.
