Houghton College is pleased to announce the speaker for this year’s Christian Life Emphasis Week (CLEW) as Dr. Jerry Walls ’77. CLEW will take place Sunday, September 8, through Wednesday, September 11. All events are open to the public and free of charge.
Walls is a 1977 graduate of Houghton College and currently a professor of philosophy at Houston Baptist University. Prior to this, he taught for a number of years at Asbury Theological Seminary.
Each fall semester, CLEW facilitates chapel and evening services to promote the spiritual growth of Houghton College students. CLEW was started with the help of the Houghton Wesleyan Church. “CLEW began as the church revival back in the ‘40s,” said Pastor Wes Oden. “As the years went by, it became more and more connected to the college.”
Walls’ theme is “The Story of Our Lives,” and he will explore this by looking at the life and doctrines of the Apostle Paul. He will be sharing messages in Wesley Chapel throughout the week:
