Guest Executive Dinner: Addie's Ice Cream
September 27, 2013 | 05:00 PM to 07:00 PM
Houghton College is pleased to welcome Addie ’07 and Andrew ’08 Silbert, owners of Addie’s Ice Cream, to speak at this year’s first Guest Executive Dinner on Friday, September 27, 2013. The talk will begin at 5 p.m. in the South End Dining Room in the Houghton College dining hall, located in the Campus Center building. This event is event open to all Houghton students, faculty and the general public.
The co-founders of Addie’s Ice Cream and Restaurant began their business in April of 2009 in Findley, NY. The original ice cream shop and restaurant specialized in 40 flavors of homemade ice cream. In 2011, the Silberts decided to close the restaurant portion of their business and focus solely on their quickly expanding ice cream business.
As Addie’s Ice Cream has continued to grow, the Silberts have worked hard to not only have a display room with 40 flavors of hand served ice cream, but also to acquire local vendors to distribute their products. 2013’s success has created an opportunity for the Silberts to expand their business into other soon-to-be-announced locations.
When describing why the general public might be interested in the Guest Executive Dinners at Houghton College, business and economic department chair Ken Bates said, “The Guest Executive Dinners are an opportunity to hear working professionals share their first-hand struggles and lessons learned in living out their personal values in the workplace.”
Houghton holds monthly Guest Executive Dinners for the purpose of introducing both business and non-business students to marketplace professionals from a variety of fields and areas of expertise. This is a “scan-in-and-pick-up-your-meal” event for Houghton students. Non-students are invited to purchase dinner, which includes an all-you-can-eat assortment of food, drinks and dessert, for $8.05 plus tax.
