Houghton College welcomes back alum Dr. Matthew Teodori and line upon line percussion for a unique performance on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:30pm. This concert is free and open to the public.
“Matthew Teodori and his line upon line percussion ensemble are a phenomenal trio of incredible musicians who engage their audiences with sparkling performances of drum and percussion music from here and abroad,” said retired Professor Gary Stith. “Their concert is sure to thoroughly captivate everyone in attendance!”
Formed in 2009, line upon line percussion is committed to seeking new ways for percussion instruments to advance contemporary music. To date, the ensemble has commissioned and premiered 8 new works for percussion with 13 additional works currently in the collaborative process. In 2011, the Austin-based trio released a disc of commissioned, homegrown music and premiered their award winning project, seeing times are not hidden, a site-specific work for custom chimes.
The Austin, Texas based group includes members Adam Bedell, Matthew Teodori and Cullen Faulk. In both 2011 and 2012 line upon line percussion has been nominated for an Austin Critics’ Table Award for Best Classical Ensemble.
