April 27, 2013
07:00 PM to 09:00 PM
An opening reception for the Senior Art Majors Ortlip Gallery exhibition will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The reception will be held in the Center for the Arts atrium and will include comments by art department faculty at 7:30 p.m., followed by music and refreshments.
"I am really excited about the realization of four years of investment into a body of work for these students," says Jillian Sokso, chair for the Houghton art department. “The senior exhibition is always of a very high quality, and the students work very hard to share work that is illustrative of their research interests. The community as a whole shows tremendous support for this show, as it is often the biggest night of the entire exhibition season.”
The Senior Art Majors Exhibition features work in a variety of media by graduating seniors in Houghton College’s art department. The exhibition, a culmination of four years of studio work, is designed, installed, and hosted by the 2013 graduating seniors.
"The Senior Show exposes seniors to the full range of exhibit preparation. They are responsible for framing, hanging, and preparing the entire show," say's Renee Roberts, gallery curator. "This year's seniors are an exceptional batch of students with incredible work ethics and interesting ideas within their work."
Senior Art Majors Exhibition is open April 27, through May 12. Visitors may browse the gallery from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, visit www.houghton.edu/ortlipgallery.
