February 1, 2014 | 07:15 PM to 08:15 PM
As part of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2013-2014 Community Spotlight program, the Houghton College Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform prior to the Orchestra’s M&T Bank Classics performance entitled Bianconi Plays Rach 3. The Houghton College Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform on February 1, and take the stage at 7:15 pm in the Mary Seaton Room of Kleinhans Music Hall.
The Community Spotlight program was founded in 1995 as a way to showcase the musical talent of Western New York’s students. The program is currently supported by the generous sponsorship of Bank of America. All student performers will receive a free ticket to the concert and their families will also receive discounted tickets to the BPO performance immediately following. All Community Spotlight performances are 30 minutes in length and begin 45 minutes prior to the BPO concert.
The Houghton Symphonic Winds is composed of approximately sixty members, made up of approximately 65 percent music majors and 35 percent non-majors, that seek to expose its students and audience to the highest quality of music written for wind and percussion instruments.
