Staff
Camp staff members have been selected because of their own running abilities as collegiate and international competitors. The staff is knowledgeable about the intricacies of running and training. They have also been selected for their people skills and desire to work with youth.
Coach Matt Dougherty (DIRECTOR)

Dougherty is a graduate of Houghton College, (class of 2001),
Dougherty also received his graduate degree in education from Saint
Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Following graduation from
Houghton, Dougherty took on the head men's and women's cross country
position at Paul Smiths College. During his second year at Paul
Smiths, Dougherty led the Bobcats to the USCAA National Meet where
they finished 3rd, and had nine runners place within the
top-30 overall. Dougherty then returned to his alma mater in the
summer of 2005, and has served as the Director of Service-Learning
and a Professor of Recreation & Physical Education in addition to
his duties as assistant coach.
Under Dougherty's tutelage, over 50 athletes reached the national
qualifying level with 17 advancing to All-American status. Dougherty
guided 48 athletes to qualify for the NAIA National Championships
over the past four seasons with two athletes being recognized as a
conference Most Valuable Players, and one becoming National
Champion. His athletes set over 30 school records and three
conference top marks during his first four years at Houghton.
