Surplus Property

Houghton College is liquidating surplus items that have served their useful life at Houghton, but may still have some value to others. These items are primarily facilities type items (equipment, old vehicles, etc.) or excess desks, furniture, etc. However, from time to time other items may be listed as well. Houghton College and Sodexo employees will be given the first opportunity to submit sealed bids. Should no bids be received, items will be advertised to the public or donated to a non-profit organization as appropriate.

How to bid on items

Sealed bids will be accepted in the facilities office beginning on a Monday. Bidding will end for those items by noon on the following Monday and the winner for each item will be notified. The winner will then have until 4:00 pm on Friday of that week to pay for (check made payable to Houghton College preferred) and pick up their items. If not picked up, items will be offered to the next highest bidder. Bids must be submitted to the Facilities Department Office in person or intercampus mail (Linda Perry, Facilities Department). Please place them in an envelope that is clearly labeled with the item # that the bid is for.
