Full Time Assistant or Associate Professor of Ceramics / 3-D Art– tenure track

Responsibilities will include teaching courses in Ceramics, Sculpture and Three-dimensional Design. The successful candidate will have considerable opportunity to help shape the character and direction of the BA and BFA programs in the area of three-dimensional studies as it continues to integrate historical traditions of sculpture with new technologies.

The art department is exploring the development of new courses in collaboration with our new engineering major. The candidate must possess a diverse skill set in ceramics and sculpture.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining the sculpture and ceramics studios, academic advising, committee work, and departmental leadership.

Qualifications:

The candidate must have an earned MFA in Ceramics, Sculpture, Extended Media or terminal degree in related field. In addition, the candidate must have demonstrated teaching ability in the areas of ceramics, sculpture and 3-Dimensional design, documented evidence of ability to sustain a rigorous studio practice and exhibition record, and a proven commitment to professional service.

Knowledge of digital software and processes including 3D printing, CNC, and laser cutting is preferred

Also required is ability to help students form respectful attitudes and interactions with people who differ in abilities, attitudes, and cultural experience, with sensitivity to factors that affect our own assessment of others.

Other important qualities for this position include a commitment to excellence and creativity in undergraduate teaching, a mature Christian faith, and an ability to integrate Christian faith into their teaching.
