Jason Decker

Instructor of Low Brass

Mr. Jason Decker is a graduate of Schenectady County Community College (A.S. Performing Arts Music) and The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam (B.M. and M.M. Music Education). He has taught band in public school at all levels from very beginning through high school and classroom music 6th through 12th grade. In his current position at Letchworth Central School District he teaches beginning band, jr. high band, and classroom music 6th – 8th grade. Mr. Decker is an active member of the New York State School Music Association. He is a solo brass adjudicator for NYSSMA.

Mr. Decker has assisted and chaired several festivals for NYSSMA and GVSMA. He has co-presented at NYSSMA conferences on co-taught cross-curricular music projects with media center specialists for general music. Mr. Decker has a passion for music education. He has been a guest lecture and presenter at Houghton and has mentored student teachers and practicum students. Mr. Decker performs regularly on tuba and trombone.

Since his move to Western New York, he has become a regular member of Houghton Symphonic Winds. He also performs with the full swing big band and several community groups in the area.

In his free time, he enjoys biking, kayaking, hiking, camping, and hunting.
