John M Buteyn is an audio engineer, musician, and sound artist. His musical endeavors have covered genres such as classical, folk, rock, pop, indie, country, electronic and electroacoustic. He has a passion for education and equipping students with the knowledge to serve and succeed in numerous commercial music fields, and has played a critical role in developing the Commercial Music courses and Technical Arts at Houghton College.
Through his career, John has had the opportunity to work with numerous artists including Leeland, John Waller, 33 Miles, Todd Agnew, Rush of Fools, Derek Webb, Foolish Things, Shawn McDonald, Keith and Kristyn Getty, and many others. He has presented work and research at concerts, symposiums, and festivals including Studio 300 Digital Art and Music Festival, Channel Noise 4, and Phi Kappa Phi Research Symposium.
John holds Bachelor degrees in Music (B.A.) and Business Administration (B.S.) from Houghton College where he was mentored by Kevin Jackson in Recording Arts, and a Master of Music (M.M.) in Music Technology from Georgia Southern University where he studied composition and media arts with Dr. John Thompson.
