Hometown: Corning, NY (I would also include South Portland, Maine as I spent my middle and high school years living there. It is abeautiful place! I seriously miss the Maine coast.)

Educational background: I have my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana Wesleyan University and my Masters of Science in Education from Elmira College.>

Interesting fact about me: My love of history and traveling definitely stems from living in many different places growing up. The years that my family spent in Germany as missionaries encouraged this love as my parents took us all over Europe to castles and museums.  They taught me to appreciate the history that you can find in any place, both overseas and in the states.

My Journey to Houghton: I am blessed to have been raised by parents who taught me what it means to have faith and to fully follow God’s leading no matter where He may take you. Without this influence in my life, I don’t know if I would be here at Houghton. I love working with students and received both of my degrees in education, planning to become a teacher. However, while working on my Master’s Degree at Elmira College, I was a Graduate Assistant in the Office of Financial Aid and fell in love with working in Higher Education.  I learned that I love this exciting time in a student’s life and that I thoroughly enjoyed helping students and families with the college search process.

Along with Houghton, I love: I absolutely love to read!  I read almost anything that I can get my hands on. I love going to my parent’s house in the winter to sit in front of their fire place with a blanket, some tea, and a great book. It also helps me relax and unwind at the end of a long and chaotic day.
