Ryan graduated in 2003 from Wheaton college with majors in computer science and mathematics.  Since then, he has worked in the software industry building computer aided design tools and with the software side of the hardware industry at Intel Corporation working with their newly released hardware transactional memory.

Currently Ryan is a graduate student at the University of Rochester in Computer Science working with the systems group on language support for multi-core programming.  His thesis work is focusing on using hardware transactional memory in the Haskell programming language runtime system.

When he is not doing research or teaching, Ryan enjoys hanging out with his 21-month old son Judah and his wife Rebekah, skiing when there is snow, ultimate when there is sun, and cycling whenever possible.
