Assistant or Associate Professor of Art & Visual Communication  (Photography/Digital Media)

Houghton College seeks a full-time, tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Photography and Digital Media.  We view the Photography and Digital Media curriculum as part of an adaptable and evolving discipline while technology offers new platforms for communication.

Responsibilities:   Teach in the BFA Applied Design, BFA/BA Studio Art and BS Visual Communication programs.  Collaborate with current artist educators in Applied Design, Visual Communication and other academic disciplines to advance the program, particularly to help develop our new Applied Design BFA curriculum and the more seasoned Media Arts concentration in Visual Communication. Responsibilities will include service to the college through committee membership and advising students.

Qualifications:  We seek a candidate with a strong professional practice and investment in teaching.  An MFA and 3-5 years of professional experience demonstrating this expertise is required.   Expertise in analog and digital photography and the ability to teach Adobe Photoshop imaging coursework. Preferences will also be given to candidates with one or two subspecialties, such as graphic design or web communication design.  Demonstrated ability to manage a black and white wet darkroom - may be asked to contribute to the management of digital media lab. University level teaching experience is desirable.

Faculty rank and salary commensurate with experience.
