Nancy Cole- Head Volleyball Coach
Nancy began working at Houghton in the Financial Aid Office after previously being employed by Richardson and Pullen Law Offices in Fillmore. A short time later she became assistant women's volleyball coach and eventually head women's volleyball coach, a position that she has held since 1996.
Outside of her work with the volleyball team, Nancy enjoys the time that she has to spend with her family whether it's watching her children (Luke, 12 and Emma, 10) play sports or volunteering with the youth group at her church, led by Jon, her husband of 24 years. In addition to helping with youth group, she also helps with Sunday school, working with high schoolers.
Rachael Snelgrove- Head Field Hockey Coach
If you're looking for Rachael Snelgrove, check outside first. Houghton's head field hockey coach loves being outdoors for any reason, whether it's running, hiking or swimming. In the colder winter months, Rachael, a Pittsburgh Penguins fan, enjoys watching ice hockey and Hallmark movies, or indulging her love for the outdoors by making snow angels.
Quality time with her husband, (Josiah '09), and 2 year old daughter (Isabelle Marie) is Rachael's #1 priority. Josiah works for M&T Bank in Buffalo. Rachael says that Isabelle is "the light of my life" and "she's pretty great."
Rachael has been Houghton's head field hockey coach since 2008 with a gap year in 2010-11 when she taught high school biology in Charlotte, NC. Her passion is coaching and her love is teaching. In addition to coaching the field hockey team, she also served as womens lacrosse coach for 3 years and worked as an assistant to Greg Bish in Student Life. Currently, she is teaching Fundamentals of Biology at Houghton's Buffalo campus in addition to her work with the field hockey team.
Patrick Hager- Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach
Patrick Hager started at Houghton in August 2014. After graduating from Messiah College in 2008, he worked in Corporate Health and Fitness for 4 years. During that time Patrick was also the Head Cross Country Coach at Rosemont College, in a part-time capacity. Patrick then moved on to Messiah College to be a Graduate Assistant in XC/TF while earning his Masters Degree in Higher Education.
Patrick is married to Sarah Hager, and they live in Belmont, NY with their young, golden retriever puppy, Mylo. Sarah is a Registered Nurse in Hornell @ St. James Hospital.
Patrick's favorite hobby is competitive running. Patrick and his brother started a post-collegiate running club called S.W.I.F.T. Racing (strength, wisdom, integrity, faith, truth). He has run 5 marathons, including the Boston Marathon in 2013, in which he ran his best time of 2:35. Other hobbies that Patrick enjoys are backpacking, camping, and kayaking. He is also active in the faculty/staff choir at Houghton.
Brian Nelson - Assistant Athletic Trainer
Brian Nelson joined the Athletic Training Staff at Houghton College in the fall of 2012. Having obtained his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2010, he also holds a master’s degree in exercise science with an emphasis in athletic training from The University of Toledo.
Prior to coming to Houghton, Brian served as the certified athletic trainer at Rossford High School (Rossford, OH) as fulfillment of a graduate assistantship through The University of Toledo Medical Center.
He currently resides in Houghton with his wife, Beth; and their new daughter, Kaylee Lynne.
Matt Webb- Head Men’s Soccer Coach and Asst/Assoc. AD
Matt Webb, Houghton's head soccer coach and Assistant/Associate Athletic Director began his association with Houghton College in August of 1992 as Resident Director of Shenawana Hall, one of Houghton's two men's residence halls. In 1994, Matt took on the position of Associate Dean (Student Programs and Leadership), a position that he filled until 2004 when he moved into his current role in Athletics.
Matt and his wife Betsy have been married for 22 years. The Webbs have five children including two sets of twins. Daughters, Emma (20) and Esther (20) are both currently juniors at Houghton College. Their oldest son Bjorn (18) is a Houghton College freshman, and sons Tobias (13) and Levi (13) are both 7th graders at Fillmore Central School.
Matt loves to read historical literature (fiction and non-fiction) and loves to travel with his family. Matt has visited/been to the following countries:
