For Your Information
Graduation honors
Honors will be printed on the program and will reflect the information available to the Records Office at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 9. Please note that college policy states that transfer students who have fewer than 62 hours at Houghton are not eligible for honors.
Diplomas
Diplomas will be mailed to the graduate's home address on file in the Academic Records Office within 4-6 weeks of completing their requirements.
Finances
All college bills (including library fines) must be paid at least one week prior to commencement—Friday, May 4, by 3:00 p.m. (Please note: diplomas cannot be mailed to students with outstanding accounts or fines.)
Library Books
All library books must be returned to the library by Tuesday, May 8, at 5 p.m. (Please note: diplomas cannot be mailed to students with unreturned library books.)
Professional Photos/Video
The College has made arrangements with Genesee Photo Systems to take pictures of this year's commencement proceedings. Genesee Photo takes individual shots of each graduate as he or she receives a diploma and walks across the stage. Ordering these photos is entirely optional, but this service is available. Commencement images are usually available on-line at www.geneseephoto.com within a week or so, and no-obligation proofs will be mailed to graduates within two weeks.
Houghton Audio/Visual Department will videotape the entire commencement. Order forms will be available in registration packets and at the College's Welcome Desk. Or you may use this order form. Mail your check made out to Houghton College ($8 for each DVD desired.)
Baccalaureate and Commencement participation
All candidates for graduation (including associates and masters degrees) are expected to attend rehearsal, baccalaureate, and commencement. If extraordinary circumstances prevent a candidate from attending any of these events, please e-mail eva.hillman@houghton.edu in the Academic Dean’s Office by April 15.
