STAFF
Camp staff members have been selected because of their own running abilities as collegiate and international competitors. The staff is knowledgeable about the intricacies of running and training. They have also been selected for their people skills and desire to work with youth.

Smalley has been involved in youth sports and organized camping for
the past 30 years. He has coached six varsity sports at the
high school level, and five varsity sports on the college level

Houghton College, Coach Smalley’s cross country and track teams have
won numerous conference championships; one regional championship;
earned 13 NAIA All-American awards; gleaned 32 Academic All-American
individual awards and produced eight All-Academic Teams.

Coach
Trini Rangel
Coach Rangel is in his sixth year as an assistant coach with the
Houghton College track and field program. His responsibilities
include recruiting, organizing preseason training sessions, and
in-season work with sprinters, hurdlers, and jumpers. In his eight
years at Houghton, Trini has been an instructor in the Physical
Education Department, intramural sports director, and assistant
coach for men's basketball. Prior to Houghton, he served as an
athletic director, teacher, and coach at various levels in Colorado,
Minnesota, and Washington state.

endurance
sports (running, biking, canoeing, snow shoeing
