Sustainability Coordinator
Ginny Routhe
In August 2009, Ginny Routhe assumed the Sustainability Coordinator position at Houghton College, leading the college’s efforts to promote sustainability and creation care in the many facets of campus life. Ginny has a deep passion for environmental sustainability which was developed and encouraged as a student at Houghton College. She welcomes the opportunity to give back to the College in this area and to play an integral role in supporting Houghton’s pursuit toward holistic stewardship.
Since leaving Houghton, Ginny has educated adults and children on the biblical basis for creation care and its practical life applications, directing an environmental education program for K-12 students in Dallas, teaching adult Sunday school on the biblical basis for environmental stewardship, developing and launching a cloth diaper comparison shopping website, collaborating to start a community organic garden, and a local recycled toy library. Ginny and her husband, Aaron, also have been recognized nationally as participants in the Christian environmental movement, being featured on ABC’s and CBN’s national news on Earth Day 2005, and more recently in 2008, as the cover for Politics magazine in stories covering environmental stewardship and the church.
