Meet the Horses

This is the amazing herd of horses that the college currently owns. Every horse (or pony) has been donated to the college with the purpose of teaching the students a vast range of things from western pleasure to riding over fences to the precision of dressage. These horses are used for classes, riding lessons and summer camps and enthusiastically put their whole hearts into their jobs.

Famous Amos - "Amos" 1991 16h Thoroughbred gelding Amos has been a consistent winner in Hunters and Amateur Owners. He also has dressage training.
"Austin" 1990 13.1h pony gelding Austin cheerfully and carefully carries riders with disabilities and beginners. But if you think you are advanced, he can show you how to leg-yield, do flying changes, and generally have a blast. Oh yea....and he can jump 3'6".
Impressive Biscuit - "Crisco" 15.1 h Appaloosa gelding Well trained in Western Pleasure, Crisco is wonderful for beginning and advanced riders.
No Limits Dreamer - "Eddie" 1993 17 h gray Warmblood gelding by Abdullah. Eddie joined us in April 2007 with a history of Amateur-owner jumpers (USEF) and lower level eventing. Besides all his training, Eddie is a sweet guy that loves to cuddle.
"Emilion" 1991 16 h Bay Dutch Warmblood gelding. Emilion has a history of international jumping experience. While he is a blast for an experienced rider to jump, he is quiet and steady and tolerant of beginners.
Entertainer - "E.T." 1988 chestnut 17h Swedish Warmblood gelding E. T.'s dressage training is through Prix St. George and he is schooling Intermediate I. He's a real sweetheart and loves his work. He is a real joy to ride!
Flow Gently -"Flow" 1988 chestnut 16h Trakehner mare Flow had an impressive show record in her younger days and has a lot to teach riders in her new career as a lesson horse.
Harmonious Jewel- "Harmony" 16.2 Bay Trakehner mare by Krohjuwel out of Happy Day. Harmony came from Florida as a 4 yr. old to get away from the heat and stayed! While she was been with us for 10 years, loved and ridden by a Houghton College Professor, she was donated to be a lesson horse in August 2007.
Heavenly Dividend- "Diva" 2004 16+h gray Trakehner filly Diva is currently in training with a Houghton College student and is showing a good mind and nice gaits.
Indian Ink - "Indy" 15.3 Dark bay with blanket Arab-Appaloosa gelding Indy does it all...western pleasure, dressage, jumping, eventing, and of course, he likes to take students on nice leisurely trail rides.
Indigo Night- "Indigo" 1990 17.3 black Selle Francais by Galonbet Indigo is such a gentleman. He has awesome dressage and jumping training, yet is also willing to teach beginners.
"Jaycee" 2004 14.3 red roan Quarter Horse filly Jaycee is currently in training with a Houghton College Student.
"Jiffy" 1993 chestnut 15.2h Quarter Horse mare Jiffy is great on trail. Her background is western. She is very cute and sensitive and is schooling first and second dressage movements.
"Maple" 1994 16.2 Chestnut Thoroughbred gelding Maple loves dressage and has huge gaits that match the size of his heart.
"Max" Mr. Max 2000 14h Haflinger gelding Having joined us at age 4, Max is turning into an excellent lesson Pony. He is brave on trail, loves cross country jumping, and is schooling training level dressage.
Shalloy's Monique - "Mo" 1993 15h liver chestnut Morgan mare Mo has endless energy, a sweet disposition, and a rocking chair canter. She jumps nicely, does solid training level dressage, and loves to go cross country.
Nicholas - "Nick" 2001 15.2 h Selle Francais bay gelding Nick is a sweet, quite, classy little hunter.
Pocket Full of Posies -"Posie" 1992 16h chestnut Appendix Quarter horse mare Posie is incredible with the beginner riders and our riders with disabilities. She is a great teacher and takes excellent care of everyone she carries.
"Possum" 2002 15.3 + gray Dutch Warmblood -Trakehner gelding Possum is currently in training with a Houghton College Student. He has gorgeous gaits, is fun to ride, and is learning to focus. Possum is gentle and loves attention.
"Pumpkin" 1993 13.3h Haflinger pony gelding Pumpkin's looks and build accurately reflect his name. Quiet and dependable for everything from lead-line pony rides to 2'9'' courses and gymkhana.
"Ranger" 1992 fleabitten gray thoroughbred gelding Ranger is a delightful show hunter with the show record to match.
River's Reflection - "River" 1996 13+ Haflinger pony River is super lesson pony. He loves going on trial, is a cute jumper, and is super on cross country. While he tolerates dressage, he is very responsive and is a great little teacher.
"Ruby" Step Aside 1998 16.1h chestnut Hanoverian-Thoroughbred mare When you look at her, the first word that comes to mind is "cutie"! Ruby has a sweet disposition and carries all levels of riders.
Misty Moon -"Sisi" 1994 15.1h gray AQHA mare Sisi joined the herd in September 2006. She has the smoothest gaits imaginable and is happiest when she knows her rider.
Sonnenjuwel - "Sport" 1992 16h black bay Trakehner gelding by Kronjuwel out of Sonset Sport is a sweet, beautiful horse. He is awesome at hunters, jumpers, eventing, and dressage.
Gypsy Genes - "Tyler" 1992 16.3 gray Hanoverian gelding Tyler was imported from Holland, and won the division hunter championships at Devon in 2005. In December 2005 he joined our herd and is using his extensive training to teach our students hunter skills as well as dressage.
"Wruda" 1993 16.3h gray Trakehner mare Wruda is a talented jumper and loves eventing. Her gaits are beautiful and she's got a pretty face as well.
Sigurd -"Ziggy" 1993 16h bay Hanoverian gelding Ziggy was imported from Germany. He has a gorgeous head, flamboyant gaits, and great jumping talent. He has 9 years of training under Walter Zettle's guidance before he joined the lesson herd in August 2006.
