Equestrian Center: Meet the Professors
Jo-Anne Young
- Jo-Anne holds master and clinic instructor ratings from the Certified Horsemanship Association.
- She's taught at Houghton for 21+ years.
- She has taught clinics, workshops and/or judged horse shows in 13+ states and England.
- She has studied dressage in Germany, trained horses in Bolivia, and continues to study with Canadian Olympic coach Walter Zettl, as well as clinicians Hank and Wilma VanBergen from Holland, Eddo Hoeksfro from Canada and Bo Jena from Sweden.
- She also judges 3 to 5 area horse shows per year.
Andrea Boon
- Andrea has 16+ years of riding experience.
- She studies dressage and stadium jumping and has also competed in area horse trials.
- She has ridden with dressage clinicians Wilma VanBergen and Carl Eijkenaar.
- She has her masters degree in therapeutic recreation and currently is incorporating a therapeutic riding program at Houghton.
- She is also the Houghton Equestrian camp director.
R.J. Stansbury
- R.J. competed as a junior rider at all levels including the AHSA Medal Finals.
- As a professional, he competed in Hunter/Jumper competitions as high as the Grand Prix level including Devon, Upperville, Middleburg, Lake Placid.
- He's trained riders at all levels: ponies, junior level equitation, Amateur/owners and other professional Grand Prix riders.
- He was a small "r" judge with the AHSA in equitation, hunter and jumpers
- He also has his Ph.D. in history and is also currently teaching at Roberts Wesleyan College
