In Spirit and in Truth
"The Houghton Conference on Christian Worship", September 25-27, 2008
The Houghton Conference on Christian Worship seeks to bring together worship leaders and planners, pastors, artists, dramatists, and musicians from a variety of church traditions to engage in worship, fellowship, learning, and discussion. The conference program is both ecumenical and Wesleyan, both appreciative of a heritage and open to contemporary expression.
- Keynote Speaker: John Witvliet
- Drama Workshop Leader: Jeff Barker
- Additional confirmed presenters include Michael Walters, Kelvin Friebel, Jonathan Case, John Brittain, Kevin Jackson, Dianne Maynard-Christensen, Sharon Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Greg McClain and Judy Congdon.
You are warmly invited to join colleagues from across Western New York for a weekend in beautiful Allegany County as we learn and share with one another around critical topics for the 21st century Church:
- How can we (pastors, musicians, worship committee members) work together to design meaningful worship?
- What beyond music and sermon can deepen and enrich worship?
- What sermon topics can help congregations gain a deeper understanding of worship?
- What can be done to energize a congregation’s participation in worship through song?
- What resources can help us approach worship leadership biblically, creatively, thoughtfully?
- What can the "emerging church" teach us about worship?
