Jeff Barker
Jeff
Barker is Professor of Theater and Playwright-in-Residence at
Northwestern College in Orange City Iowa, where he provides
leadership to an active Theatre department. At the same
time, he has served for many years in worship planning and
leadership in the local church, and is a noted teacher on the
arts in worship, having served as guest lecturer this past
summer at the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies.
Mr. Barker wrote and produced his first play while in undergraduate school at Greenville College and went on to earn an M.A. at Northern Illinois University and an M.F.A. at University of South Dakota. He has over thirty produced plays to his credit, including Kin, which won the Iowa Playwright's Competition in 2002. September Bears, his 9/11-based play appeared off-Broadway in 2003. His book, Quiet Demons and Screaming Peter Pan: Stories about the Art of Story and Worship, is in preparation for publication.
