Preparation for the Future
The M.Ed. in Literacy program prepares teachers to support their students' literacy development and to assist their fellow teachers in becoming more effective in literacy instruction. Graduates of the program will be prepared to:
- Continue working as general classroom teachers who are expert in supporting their students reading, writing, and general literacy development;
- Move into reading specialist positions in which they work one-on-one with students who struggle with reading and literacy issues;
- Take on responsibility for the professional development of other teachers as literacy coaches or staff development specialists;
- Undertake advanced graduate study and research in reading, literacy, or teacher education.
