Dr. Michael WaltersThe Department of Religion and Philosophy at Houghton is pleased to announce the department's expansion into graduate theological education.   The New York State Department of Education has accepted Houghton's proposal to offer courses leading to the Master of Arts in Theological Education.

This announcement is the culmination of a two year effort on the part of the Department to craft a degree that, building on the strengths of current faculty, would equip people for ministry at the graduate level or prepare them for doctoral studies, while complementing existing undergraduate majors.  The degree is structured to allow maximum flexibility for persons already engaged in ministry, or who have other commitments that would prevent them from being traditional graduate students.  The 48 hour program can be done in a two year framework, or spread over several years, or it can even be done through taking summer intensive courses.

Plans are for course work to begin in the Fall of 2008.  Applications for the program, as well as a program details can be found on this website.
