5K Fun Run

The first 100 registrants will receive a free t-shirt!

Join Houghton alumni, students, community members, family and friends on Saturday, October 6, 2012 for the 2nd Annual Homecoming 5K Fun Run. There is no cost to participate, so sign up today! Pre-race check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. on the Houghton Campus Quad with the race beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. Families with small children in strollers and anyone who wishes to walk are welcome.

The course will be the same as Houghton's annual Soup Run, which is as follows:

  • Loop 1: Beginning at side parking lot of Nielsen PE Center, following Willard Avenue over to cross in front of Fancher and merge with Genesee Street, passing front of Campus Center and up Centerville Road
  • Loop 2: From Centerville Road, taking Willard Avenue behind Paine Science Building but then diverting over bridge behind Lambein Hall to loop up Seymour Street. Return down the hill down Luckey Drive, cross Genesee Street, and take the path in front of Rothenbuhler (South) Hall to cross street in front of Campus Center
  • Loop 3: Circle quad completely once, then take sidewalk up to cross Centerville Road and return up to the Nielsen PE Center side parking lot (where started).

Golf Tournament

This scramble is a two-person per team format. Both players tee off. The one with the worst shot picks up his/her ball, and then both players hit their next shot from the where the best ball is. Every shot is played from the best ball location. It's great fun! So there is one score per team. We will be sending people off four at a time (two teams per foursome). If you would like your twosome (make sure that you both register) to be paired with another specific team, please note that when you register for the golf scramble. If you wish to play and don't have a partner, we will be happy to set you up with one.
Each Par 3 hole (there are four of them total) is a potential HOLE IN ONE Prize Winning opportunity. Win great prizes for an ace, including a $10,000 hole!

There will be prizes for the teams with the best and worst scores.
