Assistant or Associate Professor: Adolescence Education w/ focus in Literacy
Full time. Tenure track. Fall 2012. Candidates are invited to join a robust and growing department of education. Our faculty are social-constructivists who actively work toward integrating faith and scholarly work in their classrooms as well as in the local community. Our potential for diverse teaching placements in the greater western New York region as well as overseas provides unique and challenging opportunities for both our students and faculty.
Responsibilities: Teach courses in Education with focus on Adolescence Education/Literacy. Other responsibilities include academic advising, mentoring of student teachers, and building educational partnerships.
Qualifications: A terminal degree in the field of Education is required at the time of hire. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in disciplinary (content-area) literacy, literature for children and/or adolescents, and classroom teaching experience. An ability to expand and sustain urban connections would further enhance the candidate’s qualifications. Preparation and experience in special education settings is also desirable. A mature Christian faith, strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to mentor students are vital qualities.
Rank and Salary: Determination of rank and salary is dependent upon education and experience.
