Instructions for viewing interactive charts:

SUMMARY

  • Tableau Reader must be installed on your computer.
  • Click on the desired chart.
  • Depending on the browser being used, either open the chart file from the browser's download dialog, or download the chart file, then open it using Tableau Reader.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS

  1. If not already installed on your computer, download and install the Tableau Reader (this only needs to be done once.)
  2. Return to the page Charts and Dashboards (Employees Only)
  3. Follow the instructions below for the browser being used.

Internet Explorer

  • Click on the desired interactive chart
  • Select Save As
  • If the saved file name ends in ".zip", change it to ".twbx"
  • Select a folder location to save the chart in and choose Save
    (remember where it is stored in order to re-use it.)
  • In the small dialog box at the bottom of the browser window, choose Open to view the chart in Tableau Reader
    (if the chart does not open in Tableau Reader, choose Open With and select Tableau Reader from the available choices)

Microsoft Edge (Windows 10)

  • Click on the desired interactive chart
  • Select Save As from the dropdown box at the bottom of the browser window
  • Select a folder location to save the chart in and choose Save
    (remember where it is stored in order to re-use it.)
  • Choose Open Folder at the bottom of the browser window
  • Locate the downloaded chart file and change the ending of its name from ".zip" to ".twbx"
  • Double-Click the new file to open it in Tableau Reader

Google Chrome

  • Click on the desired interactive chart
  • Select the desired folder to store the saved chart.  Choose Save
  • In the pop-up toolbar at the bottom of the browser window, click the name of the downloaded file

Firefox

  • Click on the desired interactive chart
  • Choose Open with Tableau Reader then click OK to view the chart without saving a copy
  • OR choose Save File then click OK to store a copy of the chart in a designated folder.  Open the designated folder and double-click the newly downloaded chart file

Safari for Mac

  • Right-click on the desired interactive chart
  • Choose Download Linked File As...
  • Choose a folder designation to store the chart file
  • Locate the downloaded file location and click on it to open it in Tableau Reader
